The "Janesville Firefighters Charities" is a Not for Profit, 501(C) (3) charitable organization. We were organized in September 2004.
The purpose of the Firefighters Charities shall be to provide funding for local charitable projects. We have contributed funds to support our local students, various health and safety organizations, and individuals with special health related needs. Our goal is to promote the health, safety and well being of our community.
The Firefighters Charities has an Executive Officer (Chairperson of the Board), and (5) Board of Directors.
Board members serve (4) year terms and may serve an unlimited number of terms. There is no compensation for any position held in the Firefighters Charities.
We raise funds through payroll deductions, raffles, direct cash contributions, rummage sales, and special event sales. Contributions are tax deductible under IRS code 107 (C) (2). In 2005, the "Firefighters Charities" adopted a downtown park (Firehouse park), by city resolution. The park is on north Main St. along the Rock River. We have completely renovated the park and added many fine amenities. The park has become a focal point for many events along N. Main St. We fund the work being done in the park primarily through the sale of brick pavers, which are placed in the circle walkway. The location of the park is actually the exact location of the original East Side Fire Station.
