Station # 5
Janesville Fire Station # 5 is located at the intersection of Kennedy Road and Newport Drive on the North end of the City. The station was completed and occupied in 1997 and is a copy in design to Fire Station #2 on the South side. Station 5 was the first additional station in Janesville since Station 4 was completed in 1980. Fire Station 5 is located in an area of concentrated residential and commercial properties and the response area includes the city’s busiest intersection. Station 5 also covers a large portion of rural area north and west of the city limits and a portion of Interstate 90. The station is home to two pieces of apparatus. The frontline engine the department’s newest and is a 2005 Pierce Rescue Engine mounted on a Quantum chassis. The engine has a 1500 GPM pump, carries 750 gallons of water, pre-piped 30 gallon foam tank and a variety of rescue equipment including Holmatro extrication tools, air bag lifts, high-lift stabilizers & an air chisel. The other frontline vehicle is a 2003 MedTec ambulance mounted on a Ford chassis. The engine is manned by a Lieutenant, a motor pump operator and a firefighter riding in the rear of the cab. The ambulance is manned by two firefighter/paramedics. Station 5 is currently the home of the Janesville Fire Department’s child safety seat inspection and installation program.
