Station # 2
Janesville Fire Station 2 at 1545 S. Washington (corner of S. Washington and W. Joliet St.) was built in 1996 and was first occupied in July of 1997. This is the second location for Station 2 having moved from 906 W. Racine St. which was its original location since 1956. Station 2 is the sister station of station 5 on the north end of town. Both were built using the same floor plan. Station 2 and 5 were the first in the city to have individual sleeping rooms. Stations 2s first due area includes the south portion of the city of Janesville along with parts of the surrounding townships. This makes for a diverse customer base, from neighborhood homes, churches, nursing home and schools to rural farms, homes and businesses. In addition it services a major industrial area, railroad yard, a portion of interstate I-39/90, a river and the County Regional Airport. Station 2 is staffed by a Lieutenant, Motor Pump Operator (MPO) and a firefighter manning a 1998 Pierce Quantum 75 foot Quint and Two Firefighter/Paramedics manning a 2002 Ford/Medtec Ambulance.
