Supported by the Janesville Fire Department and the Janesville Local 580 Firefighters’ Union, Janesville Explorer Post 555 was chartered in 1986. Since its inception, Explorer Post 555 has been introducing members to professions within emergency services and helping them to develop the skills and abilities needed to pursue careers in the emergency services.
Janesville Explorers are: · Young men and young women. · Entering high school or between 14 and 21 years of age. · Interested in exploring a career in the fire service, emergency medical services, or other related areas.
What do Janesville Explorers do? Janesville Explorers meet 1-2 times a month to experience different aspects of emergency services professions. They receive emergency services training through lectures and practical application. Explorer Post 555 strives to use as much hands-on training as possible, as firefighting and emergency medicine are “hands-on” professions. Past training highlights include:
